Reforestation project in TanzaniaThis project involves the installation of a 30 ton per hour biomass boiler for the generation of steam, used for process heating in the starch manufacturing process.

The boiler utilizes fuels derived from locally available surplus biomass, mainly rice husk, as well as biogas, produced from the anaerobic digestion of waste water. In the absence of the project, the project proponent would have opted for a fossil fuel fired boiler for steam generation, which is more financially attractive.

The investment required for the installation of the new unit could not have been raised without the revenues from the future sale of carbon credits.
